Nearly every home in America with internet service has a router, which in most cases is a wireless router. Wireless routers give you the capability to have both wired (usually up to 4) and wireless connections. Home Theater equipment requires access to the internet. Although some home theater equipment comes with wireless capability, a wired connection is faster and more secure and will never give you trouble once properly configured.
Wireless routers transmit a portal to your information for up to 1/4 mile, which means that if security has not been configured on that router, your information is in jeopardy. Have a computer or home theater professional configure your router with the proper security settings so that others can use your internet access or steal valuable information off of your computer.
Setting up a router is not difficult initially but if you do not understand what the different security settings you should call in a professional.
